Car accidents not only involve the drivers of the different automobiles but also any passengers that happened to be riding in the vehicles. Passengers are always in a better place regarding insurance coverage than the drivers so long as the drivers have insurance.
Passengers are always covered so long as the insurance has bodily injury coverage. This is another reason why having minimal insurance coverage is a bad idea. Minimal insurance will not cover your passengers (i.e., your friends and family). Here is another good reason to carry Uninsured Motorist Insurance. Don't expect your insurance agent to push this coverage. It is cheap and adds to their responsibilities.
As a passenger both drivers' insurance may be required to cover your injuries through their bodily injury coverage. This gives passengers more options and coverage opportunities. Remember, the idea here is that your medical costs are covered for your injuries you wouldn't have but for the car accident.
Additionally, a passenger's own auto insurance personal injury protection (PIP) can be used for medical coverage. Personal injury protection (PIP) is required by law for all drivers in Florida. Unfortunately, the minimum amount of PIP required is only $10,000. Medical costs will eat that up quickly. Increasing the amount of PIP coverage is always a good idea.

When driving as a passenger you should know whether the person you are driving with has the proper amount of insurance coverage. This is especially true if you know this person drives in a reckless manner (in a manner you would not drive). It may sound silly but it is your future that is at stake.
Where did the accident occur? Where the police called? Was report filed?
Those are some initial questions we will need to know. In addition, we will need to see the following if you have them - if not, we can still help.
